Amistad Farm Workers Housing

Hereford, Texas

Eight years after we were asked to provide architectural services for the newly-formed Amistad Housing Development Corporation, Hereford, Texas became the host to 30 new apartments for farm workers.  A long battle ensued between the national offices of FmHA, in alliance with the Farm Workers, and the State FmHA, siding with the Hereford Residents and Farm Owners, was over.  After the project was completed and occupied, the forces against the project were shocked that both the architecture and the occupants were positive additions to the community.
