This past week, Project Manager Kristina Olivent traveled back to North Carolina for a site visit of our student housing project. Here is an update from her time:
EXPLAIN THE PROJECT
It is a multi-family project with a total of 10, 3-story buildings for student housing at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. It is an off-campus project totaling 144 units and 480 beds geared for under graduate and graduate living. The project includes a clubhouse, pool and cabana, fire pits, volleyball and basketball courts along with walking paths between buildings to connect these amenities for students to interact and socialize.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?
I am the project manager, so I have been coordinating with the contractors and consultants on a day-to-day basis. I’ve also been going out on site visits to observe the construction of the project during each stage.
WHERE IS THE PROJECT NOW?
Being in the last part of construction, students were able to move in at the beginning of this school year. The clubhouse was completely finished out, and the only part left to complete is the pool and cabana. This project was very fast-paced and was made possible due to the hard workers from Aspen Height’s in-house construction team.
WHAT IS THE FUTURE FOR THE PROJECT AND H+UO?
Principal-in-Charge Randall Owen will make one more site visit once the pool and cabana are finished. Overall it was a great experience working with Aspen Heights and seeing the project through construction.  After working on the project for over a year, it was a rewarding experience to get to meet the Aspen Heights staff of the property and watch such happy students days after moving into their brand new college home.
