The Groves, a 993-acre master planned community developed by national developer Crescent Communities, is located in northeast Houston. This community features the stunning, natural wooded landscape of the Lake Houston area. The Groves will feature planned and natural amenities including this 3,000 square foot Information Center. The building's design is based upon the dog trot - a regional vernacular building form comprised of two buildings on either side of a breezeway. One side houses the information center and the other side is reserved for the home owners association. The prominent elevated roof structure covering the breezeway is fabricated from Douglas fir heavy timbers and custom fabricated trusses. The rustic materials, earthy color palette, and integration of indoor and outdoor spaces are all intentional. The developer made a significant effort, at no small expense, to keep a tremendous amount of existing trees in order to deliver a neighborhood living up to their tag line: "Life in the Woods."
